Ecc 3:11 “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet, no one can fathom what God has done from the beginning to the end. “
As a young mother with a son diagnosed with Autism at the age of two and a half years, I was worried about whether my son would meet his developmental milestones, overcome the behavioral challenges he has, and even achieve one or two academic goals due to his hyperactivity. I always had something to worry about when he was involved because I had no idea what his future entailed. But my Bible tells me “God makes everything beautiful in its time”. As short as this word is, it has taken me years to mature spiritually to know that God will never go back on any of His words, and even though, we would be flying blindly, I still choose to believe every single word He has said.
As I type, a flash of memory floods my mind, and I recall the days when my son was three and a half years old and still did not speak a word. Our family and friends were so concerned that they took him to several local nurses who examined his mouth and tongue in an attempt to make him talk. No human efforts to loosen his tongue were successful. Now, I can excitedly share with you that our son speaks. He expresses himself freely, he can express his desires and needs, offer comments and opinions, and in some ways be described as a “chatterbox.” We have gradually matured from a child who would reply with just a word to having conversations. My first-hand experience further buttresses the fact that God makes everything beautiful in its time. It cannot be rushed; it cannot be helped it just has to be in its time.
Although well-intentioned, we attempted a number of methods to hasten his speech development but without God, you cannot make significant progress in this unique journey of ours. I’m sharing this here, so you don’t make the same mistakes I made for years. As your child(ren) grows, learn and develop a relationship with God the creator of all living beings and watch him show you ways how to best support your child and their milestones will be achieved effortlessly.
